Privacy Policy

Information we collect

From job seekers

• Account details — your phone number, which we verify with a one-time SMS code, and your name.
• Profile — job roles, years of experience, education, TVET level, institutions, languages, job preferences and expected salary.
• CV, documents and photos — your CV (which we read to fill in your profile), certificates and other documents you upload, and your profile picture. You choose these from your photo library or take them with your camera.
• Location — your location while you are using the app, and locations you save, so we can match you to jobs near you. We do not track your location in the background.
• Your activity — job alerts you receive, whether you reply Interested or Not, answers to employer screening questions, applications, and reports you submit about a job.

From employers

• Account and business details — your phone number, name, organisation name, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), sector, office location and any referral code.
• Job posts — the roles you describe, requirements and screening questions.
• Payments — your credit balance, the contacts you unlock and your invoices. Payments are processed by the payment provider you choose; we do not store your card or mobile-money PIN.

From everyone

• Messages sent between job seekers and employers in the apps.
• Device information — a push-notification token, your app language and theme, and basic technical data such as device type and operating system version.

The microphone is only used if you choose to record a video. We do not record audio otherwise.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and verify your phone number.
• To match job seekers with suitable jobs, and employers with suitable candidates.
• To send job alerts, application updates and messages as push notifications.
• To show employers screening summaries, and to process contact unlocks and payments.
• To review job posts, prevent fraud and abuse, and act on reports.
• To provide support and improve Bezemed.

What employers can see

Employers never browse a public list of job seekers. When you are matched to a job, the employer sees a screening summary based on your profile and your answers. Your phone number, CV, documents and direct contact options (call, message, WhatsApp, Telegram) are shared with an employer only after you reply Interested and the employer shortlists you or unlocks your contact.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Employers, as described above.
• Service providers that run Bezemed on our behalf — hosting, SMS delivery, payment processing, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) and Google Maps / Places (maps and address search).
• Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our users.

Keeping your information safe

Information is sent over encrypted connections, and sign-in tokens are kept in your device's secure storage. We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and delete it when you delete your account, except where we must keep records such as invoices by law.

Your choices and rights

• View and update your profile at any time in the app.
• Turn off location, camera, photo or notification access in your phone's settings. Some features, such as nearby job matches, may not work without it.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@bezemed.net.

Deleting your account

In the app: open Bezemed, go to Settings, scroll to Privacy and Data, tap Delete my account and confirm. This can't be undone.

Without the app, or for Bezemed Recruiter: email privacy@bezemed.net with the subject "Delete my account" and the phone number you signed up with. We will verify that the account is yours before deleting it.

Deleting your account removes your profile, CV, documents, saved locations and messages. Employers who already unlocked your contact before you deleted your account may keep the details they received.

Children

Bezemed is for people old enough to work under Ethiopian law. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
